Obituary of James David Oko Jr.

James David Oko Jr., 37, of Scranton, passed unexpectedly on Monday, February 25, 2019, at his private residence.

Born in Kingston, he was the son of James Oko Sr. and Deborah Weaver. James graduated from James M. Coughlin High School, class of 2000.  He served his country in the United States Marines.

James held several construction jobs over the years. Recently, he was employed as a sales representative by High Yield Industrial Products of Dickson City.  

James was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, George Shannon Sr., paternal grandfather, Stanley Oko, and brother Alexander Oko.

 James is survived by his companion Nadia Dayaram; mother, Deborah Weaver, and husband, Duane Weaver Sr.; father James Oko Sr. and his companion Fran Rosencrans; brother Steven Oko; step brothers Andrew, Michael and Steven Rosencrans, and Duane Weaver Jr. and Wayne Weaver, maternal grandmother Ruth Marie Shannon; and paternal grandmother Mary Ellen Oko.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, March 9,2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
