Obituary of Joyce Ann Mary Sult

Joyce Sult, 62, a native of Plains Township, passed away unexpectedly at Geisinger Hospital on Memorial Day.

Born on July 31^st, 1956, daughter of Ellsworth and Dorothy Oley. 

Joyce graduated from James M. Coughlin High School in 1974.

During her childhood, Joyce was proud to be called a “tomboy”. She played basketball and baseball with her brother and his friends, and during one memorable incident rode her bicycle full speed over an “Evel Knievel” huge dirt mount her brother constructed in their back yard. She crashed, and arose from the dust with a mouthful of dirt and a smile on her face.

Joyce worked as a Notary at Oley Auto Sales for a number of years and then gained employment as a cashier at the Luzerne County Domestic Relations Department where she worked for the last twenty eight years.

For many years, Joyce enjoyed camping at Lake Wallenpaupack. She would generously host family and friends at her campsite during the summer and liked scoping out local yard sales during the winter. Noted for wearing either a purple or pink hat, Aunt Joyce relished the company of her nieces and nephews.

Joyce is survived by her brother, Ronald Oley, Plains, sister, Joan Oley, Ashley, Nieces Junell Guarneri, Sarah Latona, Dr. Jenna Oley, and nephews Ronald Oley Jr., James Kaskiel Jr., and Ryan Kaskiel.

Friends and family are invited to Joyce’s visitation on Friday from 5:30-7:30 at the Yanaitis Funeral Home, 55 Stark Street, Plains.
