I am part of the Isett family, and we are all experiencing something we never in our wildest dreams would expect to be in, but it pales in comparison to what you and your family are going through.
As my co-workers have said, Jim was the go-to person to keep our work going through these last few months with such seamless transitions there was hardly any time lost at all. But even before this happened, Jim was the guy we could always count on to find not only the time to solve a problem, but fix it with such ease that I never felt guilty going to him with a problem or a question. And he did it all with a smile on his face and a calm and cool composure. He was a truly remarkable human being.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, always.
Andrea

Mary Jo,
Please accept our family's sincerest condolences for your loss. Having spoken to Jim over the last five years as a colleague, I know how deeply he valued his time with his family. Very recently, as folks were forced to work from home, I can remember hearing happy children's voices in the background while he interrupted making lunches for them to help me with a work problem. He was always so willing to lend a hand and find a better way to solve a problem. As much as we at Isett will surely miss him for the wonderful work colleague and friend that he was, our hearts go out to you and James, Luke, Connor, and Grace who have lost a part of their life, a husband and a father.
Again, our sincerest condolences to you and your family.

Mary Jo,
As my heart breaks for our work family at Isett - it aches even more for you. As much as we all enjoyed working with Jim and as much as we all needed him - I can only imagine how great your void is right now.
We all know Jim was exceptionally amazing at his job, but perhaps what was most fun was to hear - and watch him talk - about technology. It's like he would be absorbed in some other dimension, he'd be so excited about some "new thing on the horizon" and I used to just shake my head and tell him I have no idea what you're saying but it must be pretty awesome for you to be this animated.
I hope the kids carry on that passionate and enthusiastic spirit of Jim. His energy was contagious, and the world needs more of that energy.
Work aside - our most common bond was Star Wars. Jim was one of my fellow Star Wars geeks at work: and when we discovered this common bond there was never an encounter with him that did not involve some kind of super geeky conversation. As a matter of fact, when I started my job at Isett and met Jim - he was one of the reasons I knew I was going to fit right in! I'm really going to miss these talks... they would brighten my day when we were lucky enough to work in the same office.
Working in a different region, I never had the opportunity to get close to Jim but I didn't have to be with him everyday to know what a gem of a father, husband, coworker, and friend he was. He emanated the most beautiful passion for life and was energized by the possibilities and opportunities of the future: I will pray for your family, and pray that your children will carry on your husband's spirit and always find enjoyment in life - from it's most simple things, like the best slice of pizza, to anticipation of the unknown and all that could be.
My heart goes out to you, and every time I think of Jim I'll be sure to say a prayer for your family.
Mary

Dear Mary Jo and family,
Your loss is unfathomable and you are in my prayers for years to come.
I knew Jim mostly as a talented co-worker. We all spend a great deal of our limited time on Earth working, and it is more than fair in the aftermath of a shock like this to question what it all means.
I cannot speak to Jim the family man, but you have each other and the connections you have forged and will continue to build in the days ahead.
Jim’s work was so much more than hours spent in front of a computer screen. Yes, he created, managed, nursed, repaired, and maintained our IT network. Probably two other people in the company understood what he did and how he did it. But his work was so much more than keystrokes and genius.
In a year of unprecedented disruption, he enabled over 150 families to continue working, keeping roofs over their heads and food on their tables. Working remotely was easier and more seamless than we ever dreamed, thanks to Jim.
By enabling communication, data sharing, and collaboration across the miles, the design staff could continue to prepare plans necessary for school repairs, expansions, and replacements. Thousands of children will ultimately learn in better, more supportive facilities, thanks to Jim.
Even during a pandemic and an economic downturn, people still need to travel. Roads wear out and don’t repair themselves. Road repairs take design, documents, permits, details, all of which got done, thanks to Jim.
Water systems age out and need upgrades, and the pandemic has caused rare dangers from system inactivity. Technical guidance was prepared and shared across the miles to enable clean water to continue to flow, thanks to Jim.
He would patiently try to explain the why and how behind his recommendations and the systems that he developed and maintained. His explanations often included a smile, a laugh, an eye roll about something odd or annoying, and a tug or two at the corners of his shirt. Sometimes, after much repetition on his part, I would understand. Most times, I would just say “I trust you.”
Apart from work, we shared a common love of baseball and college basketball. I enjoyed sharing observations and getting his perspective.
Jim meant a lot to us, and we will miss him and his contributions terribly.
May you take strength and solace from your memories and bear each day in support of each other.
God bless.

I didn't know Jim for too long as I've only worked with him for about a year. The first time I met with him in person, I just remember thinking about how cool he must be because of his sneakers. From reading more about him today, it sounds like he was so much more than just really cool. My thoughts are with family and friends of Jim during this time.

Dear Jim,
My heart is heavy and tears fall as I write my tribute. I’ve loved you from that Friday night 9/28/1973. I will love you always. I was honored and proud when your parents asked me to be your Godmother and again when you and Mary Jo asked me to be Godmother to James JR. and Connor. The times we spent together on our “let’s make a memory days” after my Dad died were always special to me. Now with your passing, they become even more precious, treasured memories. I will always remember the laughter and happy tears as we shared special moments: your graduation, your Wedding Day, the births of your children, their Baptisms, First Communions, birthday parties, the holidays.
I am so proud of the man you became and the wonderful husband and father you were. I smile through tears as I think of your precious children, your beautiful wife, Your Wonderful Life!
Rest easy, Jim. As long as Charlie and I live we will be there for Mary Jo and your children. I will miss you terribly. All my love, Aunt Cathy.

Dear Mary Jo and family,
We are deeply sorry for your loss. May many happy memories of a very special husband and father bring you peace and comfort during this difficult time.
We were fortunate to get to know him as part of Leadership Wilkes-Barre‘s class of 2015.
His kind and gentle way made us smile and he will live on forever in our hearts. You are in our prayers.
