Obituary of Katie M. McGlynn

Katie M. McGlynn, 41, of Swoyersville, lost her twenty-year battle with drug addiction on Monday, October 26,2020. May her soul be at peace and free from this addiction that tied her wings. She is now a butterfly flying free and nothing holds her back.  Born in Wilkes-Barre on July 1, 1979, she was the daughter of Jean McGlynn Lonsdale. Katie grew up in Wilkes-Barre and attended city schools and was a graduate of E.L. Meyers High School, class of 1997.  Many will remember her as  determined and strong, also with a gentle soul. She was very artistic and used her talents to create many different crafts. Katie enjoyed spending her time in nature going on a walk or a hike with her family and friends.  At a young age, Katie began her fight with addiction. Many people will feel alone in this fight, She was a voice in the darkness for many of her friends and family who also suffered from addiction . Katie had many ups and downs in her battle over the last twenty years , through it all, her family gave her the love and support she needed most. She was doing everything to right the mistakes in her life with love, courage, truth, and support.  Katie is survived by her  mother Jean McGlynn Lonsdale; sister Jennifer McGlynn Cochran (Blaine); daughters Adaleigh McGlynn; Genevieve Shehwen McGlynn; Izabelle Hope McGlynn; son Christopher Kile McGlynn; nieces Ireland Claherty; Scarlett Ryall; and Willow Heinbach; brother Matthew Hagelgans; step father David Jiunta;  her uncle Joseph Harris, and dear friend  Mark Zaleppa.
